Not properly angered for a Monday? Take a gander at this editorial in the Washington Post by George Will, where he explains how colleges are the REAL victims of rape culture and sexual assault on their campuses.
No need to review that last paragraph. You read it correctly. Colleges are the real victims and the people getting raped are an inconvenience to be washed over. Oh, it’s also the faults of progressives.
No, really. That’s what he said. Here are some highlights:
“Colleges and universities are being educated by Washington and are finding the experience excruciating.”
Boo. Fucking. Hoo. They’re being educated about how to handle allegations of sexual abuse and rape? GOOD. Because the approach they’ve used – sweeping it under the rug, victim blaming, victim shaming, refusal to actually investigate – created a consequence-free rape culture in their campuses where rapists walk free, allegations are rarely investigated and girls take to protesting by writing names of their alleged rapists on bathroom walls in hopes of bringing any sort of attention to their cries for help.
“…make victimhood a coveted status that confers privileges, victims proliferate.”
Congrats, rape victims! You’ve unlocked a new privilege! It’s like Foursquare for life. A few more tales of sexual assault and you can be Mayor of Rapeville Campus USA! Being a victim of rape is now a coveted status. Woot!
“Consider the supposed campus epidemic of rape, a.k.a. “sexual assault.””
*SUPPOSED* Ya know, because sexual assault against women on college campuses hasn’t been a damn epidemic since women were *allowed* on college campuses.
And how dare colleges say “hey, this piece gets a little dark. If you’ve been a victim of sexual assault you may want to prepare yourself before reading this because it may bring those emotions back to the surface.”
According to Georgie, “Now the codes are begetting the soft censorship of trigger warnings to swaddle students in a “safe,” “supportive,” “unthreatening” environment, intellectual comfort for the intellectually dormant.”
You know what? Shut the hell up. Just stop talking. Do not utter another word, you sanctimonious son a bitch. If someone has been grabbed, thrown to the ground, smacked, punched, clothes ripped away, panties shredded, had another person violently shove themselves INSIDE THEIR BODY and then has been told by society that if they’d done more they could’ve prevented this attack, that if they’d dressed differently or taken a different path home or any of the other victim-blaming bullshit that victims are told – THEY DESERVE A FUCKING WARNING if their required educational material is going to make them relive the most horrific experience of their lives.
Trying to make campuses safer for everyone ruins their prestige?
Fuck. You. I get really tired of seeing everyone telling everyone else to “check their privilege.” Most won’t. Most people that need to don’t even recognize that they have privileges. But this guy? Oh this guy.
To George Will, I kindly invite you to fuck off. But before that, check your fucking privilege, you smug piece of crap.
#NotAllGeorgeWills, right rape culture apologists? Fuck off.
