January on Belle Isle

A friend and I played tourists in Detroit this month. Sometimes its fun to re-explore your own hometown.  We visited Belle Isle, the Heidelberg Project, had good eats and local beer in Midtown, took a quick stop in Greektown AND managed to avoid almost all of the chaos of the Auto Show.

I don’t remember the last time I was on Belle Isle.  Historic Belle Isle,  – 985 acres of island park with conservatory, museum, fishing piers, playgrounds and my personal favorite – the Ice Tree – all set smack dab in the middle of the Detroit River.

Ice Tree! Hopeing to slip back down in a couple weeks and see its progress.

Hehe! Thanks! It gets better as the season goes on. We’ve barely had winter weather so far this year. It went to 43 yesterday! I’ll have to post pics later in the season to show how much bigger it gets.
